Amal is a recent graduate of the Master of Environmental Studies – Urban Planning Program from the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change at York University. Currently, she works at SFU Renewable Cities where she supports the development and delivery of two emerging project areas: (1) Value-Added Housing Hubs and (2) Land Use, Mobility and Vehicle Kilometres Travelled (VKT). Amal has completed her Bachelor of Arts at Simon Fraser University, where she also earned a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and a certificate in Sustainable Community Development.

Imam Yousef Wahb is Yaqeen Institute Research Director, a LexisNexis Author, and an Islamic Law Instructor at the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law. Imam Yousef holds a Masters of Law LL.M from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor in Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University. Imam Yousef also serves as a founding board member of the University of Windsor Muslim Chaplaincy, and an Islamic Compliance Advisor at Beneficent.

Memona Hossain is a mother, community-based collaborator, and a PhD candidate in Applied Ecopsychology through Project Nature Connect Inc. She holds a Master’s in Education from the University of Toronto. She is currently an Instructor Lecturer through the School of Environment at The University of Toronto. Memona also serves on the Board of Directors for the Muslim Association of Canada, and Faith & the Common Good, and Willow Park Ecology Center, and as an Advisor & Content Contributor for Faithfully Sustainable. She teaches through community platforms at the University of Guelph Arboretum, Emmanuel College, and Riverwood Conservancy.

Dr. Deif is an Associate Professor of Industrial Technology at California Polytechnic State University. He received his MS and PhD in Industrial & Manufacturing Systems from the University of Windsor, Canada. Dr. Deif is active with various NGOs in the field of rural development in different parts of the world. His current research interests are in decolonization of supply chain, green manufacturing/service systems as well as value-based development. Dr. Deif studied traditionally with multiple scholars and received multiple ijazāt in Quran and other Islamic sciences.

Shazia Ghafur is an Environmental Scientist  specializing in soil and groundwater contamination. For over ten years, her work has involved environmental assessments and approvals for clean-ups and urban infrastructure projects. She participates in conservation work throughout the province. She is also an educator for all ages. An advocate for social justice, especially for maginalized communities.

Aadil Nathani is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Hons. B.A.) and Windsor Law (J.D). Aadil works as an Associate Lawyer at a boutique law firm in Toronto and also serves on the board of directors for the Muslim Advisory Council of Canada. While at Windsor Law, Aadil awas involved in community-based projects advocating for local municipalities to pass emergency climate declarations and create stronger environmental protections. Aadil truly believes in working on local or community levels to create wide-scale change. With this in mind, Aadil co-founded Green Ummah. Aadil is passionate about education and is striving to open a path for Muslim youth to be innovative changemakers on environmental policy in Canada.
